This web site has been updated

The log in and security arrangements here have changed. If you are an existing user your previous log in credentials will no longer work.

To get started, if you are a 'known person' at Mutual Heights (i.e. your email address is already on file at the office) you can go straight to the 'Register' page and enter the known email address and a password of your choosing (at least six characters long). The first time that you log on after registration your full user options will appear in the menu above, at the left.

If your email address is not yet on file at the office, you can request to 'Join the community'.

In the event of any difficulty, please contact us.

Mutual Heights is a sectional title scheme (as defined in South African law), located in a noteworthy art-deco building in Darling Street, Cape Town. This web site serves the needs of the Mutual Heights Community - residents, tenants, owners, service providers and others.

Opened in 1940 as the headquarters of what is now the Old Mutual insurance and financial services company, the "Mutual Building" (or "Mutual Gebou" in Afrikaans) was reportedly then the tallest building in Africa apart from the Pyramids in Egypt, and it had the fastest lifts - they still work, and they are still fast. It is one of the finest art deco buildings in the southern hemisphere, but with neo-classical features; it was one of the first conversions of an office building to residential use in the central business district of Cape Town.
  • Read more about the history of the building here.
  • See the wikipedia page here.
  • See the location of the building on Google Maps here
  • Download a 30-page copy of the Wikipedia pages (2Mb) here.
You can contact us at: Registered users of the web site (owners and their nominees) can now access facilities to manage their visitors, maintenance requests and community reports. There is a six-minute video demonstrating those facilities here.
